Overview
American Hydro is a leading provider in the hydropower generation industry, specializing in the design, manufacturing, and installation of custom hydro turbines. The Welder will join, fabricate, and repair metal and other materials using various welding devices, ensuring high-quality work in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Weld complex weld geometry and fillets and related Hydro components
- Set up jobs and equipment to run efficiently
- Perform carbon arc gouging on CJP’s
- Grind parts as needed per drawing and verbal instruction
- Maintain quality of work and productivity
- Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly
- Inform Supervisor of problems regarding work piece, schedule, safety, etc.
- Operate jib cranes and fork lifts to facilitate positioning of weldments
- Make roll and positioner set ups and assembly of simple, smaller weldments
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three years minimum of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficient in blue print reading except geometric tolerancing
- Fully proficient with FCAW and SMAW
- Able to produce high quality welds
- Capable of operating gas cutting and air arc gouging process
- Able to weld using larger wire sizes in many situations
