Overview
The Engineer II performs engineering design review and analysis assignments, typically involving significant or multiple smaller projects. This role requires a competent application of conventional engineering knowledge and aims to develop a thorough understanding of policies, methods, and procedures within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Performs detailed engineering review of plans for compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Offers technical advice to field operations and other technical offices.
- Handles moderately complex engineering problems including conflicting design requirements.
- Proposes new approaches to encountered problems and recommends changes in methods or designs.
- Drafts technically accurate reports and responses to various forms of communication.
- Interacts with clients to identify and resolve technical problems.
- Prepares accurate weekly reports and billing on all work performed.
- Communicates current workload status to team members.
- Works autonomously while being a team member.
- Implements and maintains ABS Quality System requirements.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Masters/Ph.D. graduates with specific degrees may be hired as Engineer II without experience.
- Demonstrated computer literacy in engineering software.
- Exposure to Finite Element Method through coursework or supervised research.
- Ten years or more of related engineering experience in relevant fields or two years as Engineer I.
- Professional or chartered engineer license is preferred.
