Overview

At HDR, employee-owners create a welcoming environment that values inclusion and innovation. As a Bridge Engineer, you will contribute to designing transportation systems that enhance community connectivity and sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques.
• Work on projects including bridge design, box culverts, sign structures, retaining walls, and interchange design.
• Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures and develop structural details using specialized software.
• Perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
• Review, assign work, and check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and EITs.
• Participate in bridge inspection.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in bridge design.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location required.
• Familiarity with TxDOT bridge design manuals and software preferred.
• Experience using Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Modeler, Projectwise, MathCAD, and Bluebeam.
• Knowledge of engineering software packages such as BGS, SPColumn, and BridgeLink.
• Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software.
• Experience managing junior staff.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
