Overview
Our client, a growing telecommunications infrastructure company, is seeking a Construction Technician to join their Construction Department team. This hands-on field role focuses on the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial and underground fiber and copper telecommunications infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks related to telecommunications construction projects
- Assist with installation and removal of telecommunications equipment
- Support field crews to maintain efficient workflow and project completion
- Complete required documentation including Daily Progress Reports, inspections, safety forms, and timecards
- Provide accurate as-built prints, photos, and closeout documentation
- Maintain clean, organized vehicles, tools, equipment, and job sites
- Load, unload, haul, and hoist materials and equipment
- Operate bucket trucks, trenchers, vibratory plows, digger derricks, dump trucks, backhoes, and other heavy equipment
- Climb utility poles and operate aerial lift devices
- Install support strand, conduits, handholes, manholes, fiber, copper cable, and innerduct
- Pull cable in aerial and underground environments
- Perform excavation and restoration work as needed
- Access manholes, tunnels, and confined spaces while following safety procedures
- Locate underground utilities and existing facilities accurately
- Perform traffic control duties within work zones
- Read and interpret construction work prints and diagrams
- Assist with setting poles and framing structures
- Troubleshoot and repair telecommunications infrastructure issues
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, customers, and the public
- Act as crew leader when needed and mentor less experienced team members
- Follow all safety procedures and incident reporting requirements
- Travel as required and participate in on-call rotations
Requirements
- Valid CDL-A license required
- Ability to maintain a DOT medical card
- 4+ years of telecom/fiber construction experience; aerial and underground; jigging and lashing strand
- Active climbing experience; Buck Squeeze required
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and participate in random drug testing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, at elevated heights, and in confined spaces
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing 75+ pounds
- Must be available to work Monday–Friday, starting at 6:30 AM, averaging 40–55 hours per week
