Overview
The Maintenance Worker at the Atlanta VAMC is responsible for a variety of maintenance and repair tasks under the supervision of the Area Management Unit Supervisor. This role involves ensuring the upkeep of buildings, utilities, and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related structures.
- Lay floor tile and install ceiling tile.
- Conduct plastering and carpentry work.
- Paint buildings and structures.
- Perform minor plumbing tasks.
- Install door closures, door stops, and safety treads on steps.
- Repair chairs and other equipment.
- Mount paper towel holders, signs, corner guards, and other fixtures.
- Hang bulletin boards, pictures, mirrors, fans, and clocks.
- Install casters on desks, chairs, and food carts.
- Install storage cabinets and x-ray view boxes.
- Perform walk-through inspections of buildings and initiate corrective action as needed.
- Diagnose issues and either fix them or recommend solutions.
Requirements
- Must show evidence of training or experience relevant to the position.
- Qualifications will be evaluated against the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
- Experience can include paid and unpaid work, including volunteer work.
- Must indicate the nature of duties and responsibilities in each position and hours worked.
Additional Information
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
- Work schedule is subject to change based on agency needs.
