Job Description

Overview

The Welder Combo position involves performing skilled structural welding and fabrication of metal parts for hulls or ships. The role requires working from blueprints and may include preparing molds and templates for nonstandard parts.

Responsibilities

  • Apply appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.
  • Work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, or work orders.
  • Lay out and mark points on parts or subassemblies using rules, squares, scribes, or templates.
  • Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Layout and fabricate metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and brace them in position within hull or ship for riveting or welding.
  • Prepare molds and templates for fabrication of nonstandard parts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • 4-6 years of welding/ship fitting experience required.
  • Satisfactory company work records, including attendance.
  • Manual dexterity skills.
  • PPE is required.
  • Willingness to work either day or afternoon shifts and regular Saturday and Sunday overtime, if required.
