Overview

E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. (E2) is a professional services firm established in 1988 that specializes in a full spectrum of engineering services. The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is responsible for inspecting welding procedures and ensuring compliance with client specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize with approved construction drawings and Company specifications.
  • Understand the Contract document as it relates to project duties.
  • Maintain a detailed inspector's logbook and understand welding techniques.
  • Complete and submit relevant inspection reports accurately describing the work performed.
  • Report safety issues to the Chief Inspector, Construction Manager, and Safety Inspector.
  • Plan and organize inspection duties in advance.
  • Discuss design changes or material substitutions with the Construction Manager and Chief Inspector.
  • Verify all materials used in installation comply with Company requirements.
  • Keep the Chief Inspector informed of any problems or anticipated friction points.
  • Understand the relationship between quality assurance, quality control, and inspection procedures.
  • Verify established welding procedures and welder qualifications.
  • Monitor weld quality per WPS and client specifications.
  • Ensure repairs to pipe welds meet requirements outlined by codes and operator specifications.
  • Assure welding materials are of proper type and quality and stored correctly.
  • Track all materials used for pipeline construction, including joint numbers and heat numbers.
  • Manage and reconcile complex project documentation for material and weld traceability.
  • Ensure compliance with project-specific environmental requirements.
  • Inform Chief Inspector of any safety or construction deviations or anticipated problems.

Requirements

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) through the American Welding Society.
  • Documented and verifiable work experience related to transmission/process piping and API-1104.
  • Minimum of either NACE Coating Inspection Program (CIP) Level 1 Certification or AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector Certification.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Obtain Operator Qualification (OQ) status as required by the project.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with team members and clients.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely for reports and correspondence.
  • Skilled with M.S. Office suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
