Overview
The Marine Pipefitting Specialist position involves installing, assembling, and maintaining piping systems in a shipyard environment along the Gulf Coast. The role requires precision, problem-solving skills, and collaboration with other trades to ensure the reliability of vessels and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems based on specifications and blueprints.
- Measure, cut, and fit pipe accurately using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Inspect and test systems to identify and resolve leaks or malfunctions.
- Coordinate with welders, electricians, and other trades to keep work moving efficiently.
- Follow safety procedures and regulatory requirements at all times.
- Communicate clearly with teammates and clients, delivering professional service.
- Keep tools and equipment organized and in proper working order.
- Perform tack welding across various disciplines to secure fittings prior to final welds.
Requirements
- Proven marine pipefitting experience in a shipyard or similar environment.
- Minimum 4 years of pipefitting experience.
- Solid basic math and reading abilities.
- Knowledge of pipe layout, fit-up, fabrication, and installation of pipe, flanges, and valves.
- Proficiency with common hand tools used in pipefitting.
- Strong understanding of piping systems, materials, and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Keen attention to detail and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork.
- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.
