Overview
The Welder is responsible for making appropriate welds to repair, refurbish, or fabricate trash and recycling bins, as well as trucks. This role includes performing safety checks, utilizing maintenance software, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding, fabrication and fabricating repairs on bins and trucks.
- Conduct safety checks on welds and fabrications on bins and trucks.
- Deliver and pick up trash and recycling receptacles as required.
- Utilize fleet maintenance software program to document work.
- Deliver repaired, refurbished and/or fabricated recycling receptacles to customer sites.
- Paint recycling receptacles.
- Create work orders.
- Observe and comply with hazardous waste and material handling and disposal procedures and regulations.
- Observe and comply with all applicable safety regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
- Maintain clean, safe and organized work space.
- Maintain collaborative working relationship with drivers, operators and coworkers and communicate timeline for downed vehicles.
- Mentor and provide assistance to Welder Trainees.
- Participate in external, Department and Company-wide trainings to increase skill sets.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Three years of welding and fabricating experience.
- Class D license with clean driving record required.
- Experience in the resource recovery industry a plus.
- Certifications a plus.
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication principles and practices.
- Knowledge of tools, equipment and systems used in the practice of welding and fabrication.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude with coworkers.
