Overview
The Feedlot Utility Technician is a skilled team member responsible for supporting all areas of feedlot operations, primarily focusing on welding, fabrication, pen construction, and repair. This role also involves assisting with various feedlot duties while emphasizing safety, animal welfare, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Safely operate welders, cutting torches, grinders, power tools, and various equipment.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections on vehicles and tools.
- Maintain awareness of cattle behavior and use low-stress handling techniques.
- Report safety hazards and equipment defects immediately.
- Construct, repair, and maintain pens, fences, gates, and facilities.
- Perform welding and fabrication work that meets requirements.
- Ensure accurate cattle processing procedures.
- Deliver feed according to established schedules.
- Monitor equipment and facilities for maintenance needs.
- Maintain feedlot appearance and facility standards.
- Identify and report sick or injured cattle.
- Complete work assignments with attention to detail.
- Perform multiple operational functions as assigned.
- Operate equipment efficiently to maximize utilization.
- Complete assigned projects within established timelines.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good condition.
- Assist with seasonal projects and special assignments.
- Support efficient cattle movement and processing activities.
- Work cooperatively with management and fellow employees.
- Communicate effectively regarding maintenance and safety issues.
