Overview
Our client is an established provider of wire rope, rigging supplies, and industrial equipment rental and sales. They are seeking a skilled and experienced Industrial Mechanic to join their team, responsible for diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and overhauling mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
Responsibilities
- Repair and replace damaged or worn parts on heavy mechanical equipment.
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
- Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
- Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using engine diagnostic equipment, including computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
- Weld or solder broken parts and structural members using electric or gas welders and soldering tools.
- Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies such as transmissions, hydraulic system components, and fuel systems using hand tools, jacks, cranes, and power tools.
- Install, maintain, diagnose issues with, and repair industrial diesel engines.
- Provide technical expertise and advice to both customers and internal team members.
Requirements
- Strong engineering, mechanical, and math skills.
- 3+ years of experience installing, troubleshooting, or repairing custom, heavy gearing for cranes, deck-mounted winches, hoists, or similar heavy machinery and capital equipment.
- 3+ years of experience working with hydraulic pumps, pneumatic equipment, welding (MIG, TIG, and Stick), and fabrication.
- Specialized experience in spec-intensive, heavy lifting equipment.
- Proven experience engineering and fabricating heavy lifting equipment across the full spectrum from power to gearing to controls.
- Highly developed customer service skills with some supervisory experience.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 80 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, operate foot pedals, use hands for detailed mechanical work, and perform physical tasks including stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and crawling as needed.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
