Overview
We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Quality Inspector to help maintain quality standards throughout the fabrication process. This hands-on role focuses on inspecting fabricated steel components, welds, coatings, and materials to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and industry requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform quality inspections on fabricated structural steel components throughout production.
- Verify compliance with project specifications and applicable industry standards, including AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, and AISC requirements.
- Inspect incoming materials, parts, and consumables for quality and specification compliance.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records and reports.
- Identify, tag, and track inspected materials according to established quality procedures.
- Calibrate and maintain welding equipment and quality inspection tools.
- Support welder qualification testing and certification activities.
- Assist with training related to welding, fitting, inspection procedures, and quality standards.
- Maintain drawing control and support quality documentation processes.
- Work closely with production and leadership teams to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives while promoting a safe work environment.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in structural steel fabrication.
- Previous experience in quality control, quality assurance, inspection, or a similar manufacturing role.
- Working knowledge of AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, and AISC standards.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Experience using quality inspection equipment, including fillet weld gauges, V-WAC gauges, squares, tape measures, and standard welding and fabrication inspection tools.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, accuracy, and workplace safety.
Additional Information
- Primarily a shop-floor position with limited office work.
- Active manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures.
- Frequent standing, walking, and inspecting materials throughout the workday.
