Overview
The Welder performs duties in the steel fabrication shop related to all elements of steel fabrication, welding, and repair. The role primarily involves welding processes along with operating hand tools, component assembly, and repair work.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding operations using several welding processes including GMAW.
- Operate basic hand tools and powered hand tools, such as drills and disc grinders.
- Operate metal cutting saws, cutting torches, drills, material handling equipment, and grinders.
- Perform repair work involving welding and assembly.
- Operate basic paint equipment.
- Perform work safely and comply with all applicable safety regulations, rules, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work space.
- Maintain collaborative working relationships with coworkers.
- Perform general tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
- Accurately complete assembly sheets.
- Support the Quality and Safety programs.
Requirements
- Two years related welding and fabricating experience.
- Experience in the resource recovery industry is a plus.
- Certifications in welding processes are a plus.
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication principles and practices.
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, and systems used in welding and fabrication.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local job site health and safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to interpret shop drawings.
- Ability to think independently and creatively to problem solve.
- Ability to take initiative and self-manage time and production through multi-tasking.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to contribute to a team dynamic by promoting inclusion, support, and collaboration.
