Overview
Georgia-Pacific is seeking a qualified Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician for their Gypsum plant in Sweetwater, TX. This role involves ensuring the successful operation of the facility by resolving mechanical and electrical issues while providing opportunities for career advancement and a supportive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, install, align, dismantle, repair, and maintain industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, and circuits.
- Repair and maintain machinery and electrical equipment according to diagrams, sketches, operating manuals, and manufacturers specifications.
- Perform periodic proactive asset strategies, such as maintenance routes and preventative maintenance.
- Install and repair mechanical drives, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, belts, and couplings.
- Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic systems, control devices, hydraulic equipment, circuits, and components.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance routes.
- Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs including labor hours and critical preventive maintenance findings.
- Work with operations and maintenance teams to identify and prioritize maintenance needs.
- Help meet or exceed production and quality goals while optimizing equipment to reduce waste.
- Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines and actively participate in the safety program.
- Assist in the development and implementation of reliability/precision centered maintenance strategies.
- Use pipefitting skills to weld, cut, fit, and install piping throughout the facility.
- Apply problem-solving methods to identify the root cause and eliminate failure.
- Work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
Requirements
- One year or more of experience with installation, calibration, fabrication, and preventive maintenance in a relevant environment.
- Experience utilizing and interpreting equipment drawings/schematics such as electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Six months experience with single and 3-phase electrical repair and troubleshooting up to 480 Volts.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience troubleshooting issues and making repairs on bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and conveyor.
- Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps.
- Experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electrical/mechanical instrumentation.

- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, with overtime on weekends and holidays as needed.
