The Fabrication Mechanic is responsible for the layout, setup, and operation of fabrication equipment to manufacture high-quality metal components according to engineering specifications and production schedules.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, and modify metal components and parts according to blueprints and engineering specifications.
- Set up, operate, and safely use fabrication and machining equipment.
- Consistently meet or exceed production deadlines while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Produce parts that meet or exceed quality standards as determined by the Production Supervisor.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Measure, mark, and inspect materials using precision measuring tools.
- Troubleshoot machine or equipment issues and perform routine preventative maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Collaborate with production staff and quality personnel to resolve fabrication issues.
- Assist with material handling and preparation of components for production.
- Follow all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related experience, or a minimum of 6 years of related experience in lieu of a diploma.
- Metal fabrication experience preferred.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical instructions.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication processes.
- Ability to accurately measure and inspect parts using precision measuring tools.
- Strong attention to detail.
