Overview

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Welder in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This position involves designing, fabricating, installing, and maintaining the gas distribution system and equipment while ensuring safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and install weld connections and fittings for gas distribution facilities.
• Ensure the safety of the work performed.
• Be available for call outs 24 hours a day for emergency welding situations.
• Design, fabricate, test, paint and weld all meter units.
• Construct and test Bilco valve and regulator pits.
• Design, fabricate, or modify new equipment such as truck boxes and beds.
• Perform welding duties for other departments.
• Maintain various equipment including shop welders and hand tools.
• Maintain Personal Protective Equipment.
• Perform welding functions at Liquid Natural Gas plants and gate stations.
• Perform housekeeping functions as necessary.
• Observe vehicle operation and report safety defects.
• Facilitate communication with contractors and municipal personnel.
• Attend safety and training meetings.
• Operate and maintain test equipment.
• Repair and maintain tools and equipment.
• Accurately complete reports and electronic work orders.
• Participate in outage restoration.
• Assist in repairs of damaged Company natural gas facilities.

Requirements

• Must attain required welding Operator Qualification(s) within four months of initial welding class.
• Ability to certify under API 1104 Section 6.4 and Section 9.3.
• Candidates may need to demonstrate physical ability through a Physical Capacity Evaluation.
