Overview

Optimized Process Designs, LLC (OPD) is seeking an Ironworker Helper for a jobsite in Baytown II, Texas. OPD is an engineering and construction company with expertise in the natural gas and petrochemical industries, known for its integrity and project execution capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and secure structural supports according to specifications and instruction from Ironworker.
  • Have basic practical knowledge of structural steel assembly and installation.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and understand structural drawings.
  • Be familiar with torque wrench and impact gun for structural work.
  • Understand setup and required tools and materials for safe heavy lifts.
  • Assist Ironworker in attaching loads using chains, slings, cables, and hooks.
  • Manually handle and securely apply rigging equipment.
  • Take direction from the Ironworker on attaching and detaching loads.
  • Effectively communicate with the rigging team.
  • Be familiar with standard crane hand signals.
  • Learn weight capacity and assessments of loads/lifts.
  • Learn to cut i-beams with grinder, torch, or band saw.
  • Work at heights in man baskets or on elevated platforms more than 80% of the time.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience as an ironworker helper.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
  • Knowledgeable of crane signals (hand and verbal).
  • Must follow company safety procedures and industry best practices.
  • Must be able to wear an approved full body harness and lanyard.
  • Travel is required with extended periods away from home.
  • Must be able to work shifts up to 12 hours per day and 7 days per week.
