Job Description

Overview

The Carpenter position at Orion is responsible for providing carpentry skills at marine project locations, constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing various wooden structures according to plans and instructions. The role emphasizes safety, quality, delivery, and teamwork, underpinned by integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Work as assigned by the Project Superintendent or Barge Foreman on marine construction projects.
  • Secure and maintain basic carpentry tools.
  • Return tools to the Marine Yard or secured location after project completion.
  • Interpret plans and specifications for construction or repair.
  • Receive and offload building materials safely.
  • Lay out foundation, building lines, and anchor bolts.
  • Shoot elevations and grades as required.
  • Erect forms and monitor pours for accuracy.
  • Perform wood and metal stud framing as needed.
  • Inspect and make minor repairs to wooden structures.
  • Pick up materials and supplies for project completion.
  • Collaborate with Barge Foreman, Crane Operators, and other crafts persons.
  • Participate in safety and environmental initiatives.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years carpentry experience or equivalent training.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of carpentry practices and materials for concrete forming.
  • Ability to operate various marine equipment.
  • Understanding of safe work practices in marine construction.
  • Proficiency in carpentry craft.
