Overview
The Tinsmith - Structures position at MTA Metro-North Railroad involves fabricating and installing sheet metal fittings and ductwork, as well as repairing roofing in railroad facilities. Responsibilities
- Fabricates sheet metal fittings and ductwork from drawings.
- Installs and repairs ductwork and fittings in railroad facilities.
- Fabricates pans and fittings from sheet copper.
- Installs and repairs roofing, including shingles, roll roofing, tile, and roof cement.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or TASC, or apprentice training as a Sheet Metal Worker.
- Two years of work experience may substitute for vocational training.
- Knowledge of telephone cable color codes and ability to read prints and use test equipment.
- Must possess a valid Class D driver's license or equivalent.
- Must have a personal toolbox with Sheet Metal tools.
Additional Information
- This is a safety sensitive position and subject to toxicology testing.
- Works outside exposed to various weather conditions.
- Works at heights up to 50 ft. on scaffolds and ladders.
