Overview

Transdev in Union, NJ is seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanic to diagnose and repair commercial vehicles and equipment. This role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and quality of repairs while ensuring effective communication with employees and customers.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and accurately perform all phases of vehicle repairs.
• Remove, clean, repair, reinstall, and adjust vehicle components.
• Conduct engine repair and diagnosis.
• Work on engine emission components.
• Repair driveline components.
• Handle electrical and electronic components.
• Maintain brakes, suspension, steering, and exhaust systems.
• Work on cab and chassis.
• Perform hydraulic repairs.
• Utilize various scan tools proficiently.
• Ensure work orders are properly completed.
• Select appropriate course of action for repairs.
• Evaluate completed work prior to release.
• Ensure safe use of power and hand-held tools.
• Perform road calls and emergency services as necessary.
• Move vehicles safely between job and work area.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors.
• Actively participate in safety or educational training as required.
• Maintain continuous ASE/EVT re-certification.
• Perform other responsibilities as requested or required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license; CDL license is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of three years direct automotive repair experience.
• Experience monitoring and meeting PM schedules.
• Ability to operate automotive repair shop equipment.
• Appropriate mechanic's tool set.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships.
• Subject to DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing.
