Overview
As an Upfit Technician 1, you will perform a variety of high-level activities related to truck body and trailers, including diagnosing and repairing electrical and hydraulic issues, disassembling and reassembling truck bodies, and upfitting as needed.
Responsibilities
- Follow all Wabash Nationals WPO guidelines and attain all required certifications.
- Work safely and use proper PPE.
- Collaborate in a team environment.
- Perform repairs and procedures in a safe and timely manner.
- Read the work order completely before beginning an assignment.
- Check the VIN on the vehicle to ensure correct components and vehicle for the assigned job.
- Operate pneumatic and battery-powered cordless tools.
- Read basic drawings and prints.
- Operate lifting devices such as forklifts and stackers.
- Apply adhesives and mechanical fasteners.
- Operate sanders and apply light duty paint material.
- Use saws and drill press equipment.
- Record part numbers on work orders.
- Have a basic understanding of 12v or automotive electrical systems.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel, push, and pull for a minimum of eight hours.
- Ability to kneel and work under a truck or van.
- Regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds and frequently up to 55 pounds.
- Ability to work in environments requiring use of ladders, stairs, and tight spaces.
- Ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools safely.
- Work with compressed air safely.
- Operate fork trucks, overhead cranes, and scissor lifts safely.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE).
