Overview

At Gerber Collision & Glass, the Auto Body Technician is responsible for providing exceptional customer experiences through quality vehicle repairs, ensuring alignment with team goals and company standards. The role emphasizes meticulous assessment and restoration of vehicles to pre-accident condition while fostering a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
  • Plan repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
  • Use tools to repair sections of a vehicle.
  • Hammer out dents and apply filler resins when necessary.
  • Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
  • Remove damaged sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts.
  • Replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
  • Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
  • Weld and fit parts into place and repaint vehicles as required.
  • Complete work orders within labor time guidelines and inspect vehicles post-repair.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
  • Ability to read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to collaborate with other repairers in an auto body shop.
  • Thorough understanding of methods and procedures for vehicle body repair.
  • Thorough understanding of tools required for the trade.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
