Overview
The Lead Compactor Shop Technician at Republic Services is responsible for troubleshooting, designing, installing, and repairing compactors and power units with limited supervision. This role involves coaching other technicians, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, and maintaining customer satisfaction through effective repairs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain advanced knowledge of all types of compactors, hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Make customer site visits to ensure customer satisfaction and assist the Sales team.
- Coach technicians to identify malfunctions and determine repair actions.
- Weld steel components using MIG and ARC welding equipment.
- Cut steel using a plasma cutter or torch.
- Fabricate steel components for compactors.
- Perform on-site repairs at customer locations.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Complete required paperwork.
- Install company and safety decals on all compactors.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Refer complex repairs to the Supervisor.
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency with welding, hydraulics, or electronics.
- Advanced knowledge of MIG and stick welders, plasma cutters, and airless paint sprayers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions with minimal supervisory involvement.
- Minimum of 1 year welding experience.
