Overview

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic position at RailWorks involves performing preventative and corrective maintenance on specialized railway construction equipment and other related vehicles. The company is a leading rail maintenance and infrastructure solutions provider in North America, committed to employee growth and a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all systems associated with work equipment.
  • Work from blueprints, service manuals, and schematic drawings.
  • Conduct inspections and tests, and repair or replace parts in remote locations outdoors.
  • Evaluate parts for reuse, repair, or replacement.
  • Use cutting torches and welders for various fabrication tasks.
  • Operate equipment such as cranes and forklifts to assist in assignments.
  • Diagnose equipment problems and take corrective action.
  • Prepare and submit equipment maintenance records and time sheets.
  • Follow prescribed safety procedures.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the shop and maintenance tools.
  • Work on heavy-duty equipment such as Excavators and Backhoes.
  • Assist other Heavy Duty Mechanics when needed.

Requirements

  • 2nd Term Mechanic Apprentice.
  • Previous field service experience.
  • Previous rail experience is an asset.
  • Own tools required.
  • DZ or higher driver's license is an asset.
  • A safety-oriented work ethic supported by experience in the labor industry.
  • Ability to follow instructions, rules, and regulations.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a valuable member of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting and repair background.
  • Fluent in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical components and systems.

Additional Information

  • Working hours during the probation period will be straight day shift; after probation, hours will change based on business needs.
  • Works both outdoors at construction sites and in the shop.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
