Overview

The CNC Machine Operator (Angle Line) position involves performing various routine metal fabrication duties under general supervision, primarily using control mechanisms to transport structural steel sections within the production area. The role requires a strong understanding of shop practices and the ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect own parts and those of others using measuring tools.
  • Read and complete production orders and QA documentation.
  • Perform secondary operations like cleaning and debarring parts.
  • Operate overhead hoists and forklifts to move materials.
  • Record machinery operation variances and complete preventive maintenance.
  • Perform visual safety checks for machine wear and safety guards.
  • Clean work area and assist other machine operators as needed.
  • Follow all safety regulations and maintain a clean work area.
  • Inform Supervisor of any malfunctions immediately.
  • Visually inspect parts for tolerance before bending.
  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
  • Follow shop foreman's instructions.
  • Work overtime when requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 to 3 years of fabrication machine operator experience or related field.
  • Experience with plasma machine, blocking machine, angle drill, and other machinery is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of shop practices and procedures.
  • Basic understanding of producing and inspecting precision components.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and diagrams.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments like micrometers and calipers.
  • Knowledge of basic math and different dies.
  • Overhead and jib crane experience required.
  • Ability to read tape measure and degree finder.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures.

Additional Information

  • Full time shop exposure with extreme temperatures.
  • No travel requirements.
  • Perform work standing for 8-10 hours per day, up to 6 days a week.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Will train on days and will resume to 2nd shift schedule once training is completed.
