Responsibilities
- Assist with repairing and overhauling cars, trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Participate in routine servicing and adjustments to reduce wear and prevent equipment failure.
- Learn to complete diagnostics, tune-ups, tire changes, and system repairs on engines and vehicle components.
- Help complete safety and emissions inspections, road tests, and related inspection records.
- Identify equipment problems and assist with selecting repair methods, tools, and parts.
- Keep the work area clean and safe by using proper procedures, protective equipment, and hazard awareness.
Requirements
- Two years as a Tradesman Helper working in the automotive field, or graduation from a post-high school diesel technology curriculum of an accredited trade or technical school, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Possess an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of employment.
- Possess an active Pennsylvania Class 1, Class 4, or Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification during the probationary period.
- Pass the Department of Transportation’s New Mechanic Training course during the probationary period.
- Obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.
- Be able to perform essential job functions.
Additional Information
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Selected candidates will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,802.00 (before taxes).
