Overview

Amtrak is seeking an Electrician Journeyman responsible for the inspection, testing, and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and HVAC systems on rolling stock equipment. The company values safety, teamwork, and customer focus, aiming to connect businesses and communities across the country.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection, testing, and maintenance in accordance with 49CFR regulations and Amtrak standards.
• Utilize test equipment and PC to diagnose malfunctions and troubleshoot components.
• Repair and/or replace doors, electronics, signs, pantographs, and HVAC systems.
• Install components such as motors, generators, switches, relays, batteries, and transformers.
• Perform approved electrical modifications and repairs or replace components as necessary.
• Troubleshoot equipment to determine corrective actions and causes of failures.
• Maintain proper care and use of materials, test equipment, machines, and hand tools.
• Work on electrical systems and components with AC and DC voltage.

Requirements

• HVAC experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in electrical repairs and testing advanced electrical/electronic systems.
• Ability to read, draft, and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• Experience in both A/C and D/C electrical systems.
• Must successfully complete training and attain/retain certifications applicable to the job.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot using schematics and multimeters.
• Knowledge and skill in the use of electrical tools and equipment.
• Some computer skills.
• Must be able to lift items weighing up to 25lbs.
