Overview

Norristown State Hospital is seeking a Maintenance Repairman 2 to provide skilled maintenance and repair services across various trades, ensuring safe and reliable operations for consumers and staff. This role offers the opportunity to apply trade skills and contribute to meaningful projects.

Responsibilities

• Repair piping, waste lines, heating units, and related components throughout the facility.
• Make minor electrical repairs and maintain equipment and lighting systems.
• Remodel building structures and build items such as shelving, cabinets, and walls.
• Prepare surfaces, apply coatings, and refinish furniture and structural elements.
• Estimate materials, transport supplies, and complete required documentation.
• Follow approved safety procedures, maintain clean work areas, and assist in asbestos abatement tasks.

Requirements

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 or equivalent.
• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work involving at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
• Must meet the PA residency requirement.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Overtime and travel as operationally necessary.
