Overview

MasTec Utility Services is a subsidiary of MasTec, delivering critical infrastructure construction and engineering services for power delivery, gas, and water customers. The Mechanic I position involves the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles, supporting the Construction team.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and repair company equipment, such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, backhoes, compressors, and generators.
  • Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment.
  • Place orders for required parts, materials, and supplies.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports.
  • Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments.
  • Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean and safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to do tune-ups, brake jobs (hydraulic), and basic wiring.
  • Basic diesel and drive train experience.
  • Ability to use cutting torch and basic welding skills.
  • Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.
  • 1 or more years of experience preferred.
  • DOT Certified Flagger preferred.
  • CDL Class A license preferred.
