Overview
The Welder position involves performing various welding tasks while ensuring a safe work environment and adhering to quality standards. The role requires reading blueprints, selecting appropriate welding methods, and maintaining equipment, with a focus on aluminum TIG and MIG welding.
Responsibilities
- Practice and promote a safe work environment throughout the entire facility
- Read and interpret customer blueprint specifications to understand product requirements
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
- Set up components for welding according to order specifications
- Weld components efficiently and safely using various welding equipment
- Perform MIG, TIG and other types of weld based on project needs
- Keep work area clean and orderly using 5S system
- Conduct all processes and procedures in accordance with department key measures
- Ensure all quality practices are being followed accurately and efficiently
- Communicate Alexandria Industries’ requirements and capabilities with vendors and customers
- Use necessary measurement equipment to test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to ensure that parts extruded meet customer specifications
- Conduct simple repairs on equipment and machinery as needed
- Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment in order to ensure safety, quality and efficiency
- De-bur and grind components as needed to achieve precise surface texture
- Load and unload trucks in the most cost efficient way for deliveries and shipments
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent degree
- 3-5 years of Aluminum TIG and MIG welding experience preferred
- Ability to obtain welding certifications as needed
- Ability to recognize safety concerns
- Ability to utilize the proper inspection equipment per designated area
- A highly motivated self-starter
- Strong coordination and judgment skills
- Basic math skills
- Ability to read die drawings and inspect parts and surface finish according to customer specifications
- Ability to effectively work in a team environment
- Ability to take part in additional training as needed
- Ability to perform and assist with preventive maintenance
- Strong communication skills, problem solver, multi-tasker
- Ability to properly identify materials
- Strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties
