Overview
The Welder position involves setting up and operating welding equipment to create finished surfaces that meet print and customer specifications. The role requires expertise in various welding processes and collaboration with engineering to ensure quality and efficiency in production.
Responsibilities
- Apply appropriate welding processes to join, surface, or repair metal parts according to specifications.
- Determine welding requirements and operate welding equipment based on print specifications.
- Collaborate with Engineering to design weld fixtures and select the best welding methods.
- Apply filler rod to molten areas to form welds.
- Set up and operate metal arc welding equipment for routine TIG welding operations.
- Adjust current, gas pressures, and regulate pressure controls.
- Select appropriate rods, wires, tips, and electrodes for specific operations.
- Fit and position parts according to drawing specifications and tack weld as necessary.
- Ensure smooth beads for proper penetration and fusion while avoiding metal distortion.
- Inspect and measure finished workpieces to ensure compliance with welding standards.
- Follow company work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Complete jobs according to production timelines.
- Perform preventative maintenance on welding equipment and maintain maintenance logs.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and wear required PPE.
- Meet established production efficiency and effectiveness standards.
- Document all required paperwork and production data in the ERP system.
- Complete documentation per ISO 13485 and FDA requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
