Overview

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Welding Engineer in Los Angeles, CA to join a rapidly growing aircraft manufacturer. The role involves supporting weld shop development and optimizing weld processes for various welding techniques.

Responsibilities

• Support weld shop development for full scale welded assemblies.
• Develop, optimize, and qualify weld processes and parameters for multiple welding processes.
• Support design, manufacturing, and materials engineering with root cause analysis.
• Work closely with design, tooling, automation, and development engineers to improve welded designs for manufacturing.
• Set up welding qualification test campaigns and interpret mechanical testing and NDE results.
• Support manufacturing engineers and welders on correct techniques in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Develop and implement improved process control using test and NDE results as feedback.
• Scope out new welding technologies to improve rate, quality, and efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline.
• 5 years of experience in weld engineering within an R&D environment.
• Experience designing new weld processes from scratch.
• Experience with designing TIG, MIG, and laser welding.
• Experience with design transition from aluminum to steel weld engineering is a plus.
• Precision weld experience is a plus.
