Overview
The WELDER LEADER position at the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard involves providing technical direction to welders and performing various welding processes in the manufacture and repair of naval vessel components.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction to welders, shipfitters, and helpers.
- Perform electric arc welding using processes such as MIG, TIG, and shielded electrode.
- Utilize gauges, tools, and equipment used in the welder trade.
- Inform supervision of work progress, status, and potential work problems.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Must be registered for Selective Service if born after 12-31-59.
- Must complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
- Must wear personal protective equipment continuously during work shifts.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.
- Ability to lead or supervise is a screen-out element for eligibility.
