Overview

Focus Factory Training is seeking an organized and self-motivated Structural Welding Instructor to support strategic sourcing initiatives at the Rhoads Focus Factory in Philadelphia, PA. The role involves training supplier students in various structural welding processes and ensuring compliance with safety and procedural standards.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct multiple welding related classroom courses including Workmanship, AWPSS and Safety Briefs.
  • Instruct multiple structural related classroom courses.
  • Direct and assess hands-on training with practice and tests.
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits.
  • Assess student performance and identify nonconformance to policies, procedures and technical documents.
  • Support various course content reviews and related activities.
  • Conduct assessments as needed/scheduled.
  • Manage class rosters and training OQE submittal paperwork.
  • Meet with Focus Factory Leadership regarding student performance as needed.
  • Consistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics.
  • Communicate with other Training team members to advance work and communicate issues.
  • Support special training projects as required.
  • Support the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years of welding trade experience.
  • Ability to participate on business travel up to 15%.
  • Advanced educational course work including certifications, associates or other advanced education degree (preferred).
  • Instructing/teaching experience (preferred).
  • Leadership experience (working leader, MDU, SS, etc.) (preferred).
  • Currently qualified and proficient in 3 or more welding processes (preferred).
  • Experience with non-destructive testing, AWPSS & SRT (preferred).
  • Proficiency with communication and virtual technologies (preferred).
  • Strong ability to prioritize and complete multiple complex assignments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong willingness to think critically and problem solve.
  • Commitment to teaching others and leading student classes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer-service, safety & procedural compliance.
  • Ability to engage with supplier employees in a professional manner.
  • Comfortable with new teaching technologies and willing to adapt to new teaching approaches.

Additional Information

  • Home Location: Rhoads - Philadelphia, PA.
  • Travel Expectation: Business Travel approximately 15%+.
