Overview

This role is based at our Philadelphia, PA location, where a driven technical professional will oversee nondestructive testing (NDT) at select Electric Boat suppliers and distributed manufacturing sites, providing hands-on evaluation, guidance, and leadership across various NDT methods.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct reviews and surveillances to ensure adherence to fabrication, welding, and NAVSEA NDT specifications.
  • Maintain and enhance company standards, procedures, best practices, and field-level process improvements.
  • Provide expert technical guidance for manufacturing support and problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with a wide network across EB Strategic Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Purchasing, Program Offices, Newport News Shipbuilding, SUPSHIP Groton, and NAVSEA.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports based on oversight activities, investigations, and research initiatives.

Requirements

  • High-school diploma or GED with appropriate related NDT certification(s) or experience.
  • Certified Level II in at least MT, PT and VT in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A/ NAS-410/ EN-4179/NSTR-99 with a minimum of five (5) years of experience performing hands-on NDT inspections.
  • Current or previously held Level III certifications in at least MT, PT and VT in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A/NAS-410/EN-4179/ NAVSEA 250-1500-01 with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience functioning as a Level III.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Level III Certification within one (1) year of hire.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.

Additional Information

  • Travel requirements are estimated at approximately 30% annually.
  • The selected candidate will be expected to obtain Level III certifications within one year.
