Overview
Welders are needed for all shifts in Fall River, offering pay between $19 and $26 per hour based on relevant experience. The role involves operating welding machines or industrial robots to fabricate metal parts or assemblies according to specifications.
Responsibilities
- Lift work pieces manually or using a hoist and secure them in fixtures or load them into automatic feeding devices.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machine factors such as wire feed speed, amperage, polarity, type of gas, and type of weld rod.
- Start the machine, engage the feed, and observe operation.
- Inspect and measure machined work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.
- Adjust machine controls and guides as necessary.
- Unload welded frames from robotic welders and place them in appropriate containers.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations for welding.
- Remove rough spots from work pieces using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scrapers or power chippers.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Replace worn machine accessories such as cutting tools or brushes.
- File, sand, or shape machined parts.
- Maintain accurate counts of parts and attach labels or tags to finished part containers.
- Perform basic MIG and TIG welding techniques as needed.
- Maintain company quality, efficiency, and productivity standards.
- Read job specifications to determine type of welding and material requirements.
- Examine finished work pieces to verify conformance with specifications using instruments such as gauges.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Robotic Welding Manager.
- Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment and machines.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- May perform other related duties or work at different workstations as production needs require.
Requirements
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- FANUC Robotic Certification is desired.
- Certificate or degree in welding is preferred.
- At least 2 years of welding experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Successful completion of an internal welding test.
- Knowledge of welding equipment and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of basic math skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents like blueprints, welding symbols, safety rules, and operating instructions.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and vendors.
- Must be dependable.
Additional Information
- Equipment operated includes welders, lifts, robots, and cranes.
- Moderate to heavy physical effort required; frequently required to bend and stoop.
- Regularly exposed to varying temperature conditions between 60-100 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, moving machinery parts, airborne particles, and fumes from production equipment.
