Overview
The Welder operates manual welders and weld robots to fabricate metal weldments from materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel. The role requires proficiency in TIG and/or MIG welding to meet production expectations.
Responsibilities
- Operates a welding machine to fabricate metal weldments from materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel.
- Lifts work piece manually or using hoist and secures work piece in fixture.
- Starts machine and observes operation.
- Inspects and measures work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.
- Replaces worn machine accessories and exhausted expendables such as shielding gases, welding rod and/or wire.
- Adds coolant and/or water to machine reservoir and turns valve to start flow of coolant.
- May be required to operate an industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Operates welder to produce parts per specifications and sets up and adjusts tips, fixtures, amperage and pulse.
Requirements
- Must be able to operate a TIG and/or MIG welder at a level to meet production expectations.
- Must be able to pass the Midmark Weld Test.
- Assembly experience helpful.
- Safely lift up to 50lbs unaided and up to 75lbs with assistance.
- Must possess good mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to use simple hand tools and measuring devices.
- Must read, write, speak and understand English.
