Overview

Jones Metal, established in 1942, specializes in precision metal fabrication and is seeking a Welder for their 1st shift. The role involves various welding operations to manufacture products according to customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Position, align, fit, and weld parts following blueprints and layout specifications using jigs and hand tools.
  • Examine parts for defects and measure parts with various measurement tools to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Weld components in flat and vertical positions using MIG and TIG processes.
  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
  • Select torch tips and filler material according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals.
  • Perform quality inspections within the welding department.
  • Perform work in accordance with established operational standards and processes.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an internal math assessment and weld test.
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools including grinders and cut off wheels.
  • Knowledge of welding equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steels, alloys, aluminum, etc.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
  • High School degree, diploma, or GED.
  • Twelve months welding experience or a certificate/degree in welding, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 1st shift: Mon-Thurs 6am-4:30pm.
