Overview
The 1st Shift Welder position involves welding and fabricating parts according to specifications and company standards. The role requires efficient welding of various metal objects and the ability to analyze blueprints and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform efficient welding of various metal objects, including heavy and light gauge carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless, using both MIG and TIG equipment.
- Analyze blueprints/drawings, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
- Set up, troubleshoot, and adjust equipment.
- Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
- Report all non-conforming material to the Welding Team Leader and/or Shop Foreman immediately.
- Input and maintain data in ERP computer system/Global.
Requirements
- Maintain excellent attendance and possess the flexibility to work overtime.
- HS education with a minimum of 2 years welding experience.
- Possess a solid understanding of welding equipment and tooling.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, welding process specifications, and welding symbols.
- Must be able to operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments.
- Must have the ability to weld in all positions with good penetration and quality.
- Must be able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level, square, and use a variety of power tools.
- Work independently and follow direction.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
Additional Information
- Shift: Monday-Thursday 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, overtime as needed.
- A welding test will be administered as part of the application process.
- Humidity level may be elevated during the summer months.
- Exposure to certain containments, at times.
- Exposure to loud noise, at times.
