Overview

The Laborer position at Orion involves providing support to skilled craft workers at marine project locations. The role requires assisting Welders, Pipefitters/Carpenters, and other skilled workers while adhering to the company's core values of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Teamwork, and Integrity.

Responsibilities

• Assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties.
• Move work pieces, tools, and supplies manually or by hand truck.
• Lift, move, hold, or clamp work pieces as directed.
• Clean work pieces to remove impurities using various tools.
• Connect hoses and cables for welding and cutting tasks.
• Start gasoline engines to activate electric generators.
• Remove tags and move finished work.
• Attach grappling equipment to objects for crane movement.
• Bolt, nail, align, and block up under forms.
• Signal operators of construction equipment for alignment and adjustment.
• Level earth to fine grade specifications using hand tools.
• Mix concrete using a portable mixer.
• Smooth and finish freshly poured cement or concrete.
• Position joints, align, and seal pipe sections.
• Erect scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Apply protective coatings to surfaces.
• Perform various tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools.

Requirements

• A minimum of one year construction or craft worker helper field experience.
• Previous experience in Welding, Pipefitting, Piledriving, or Carpentry is desirable.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others.
• Ability to understand and follow specific directions.
• Ability to work without close supervision.
• Capability to meet accuracy standards as dictated by the customer.
