Overview
As a Field Services Technician at Submer, you will be responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and supporting Submer systems at datacenters and client facilities across the United States. This role requires strong electromechanical skills and a customer-focused approach, with a significant amount of travel involved.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and testing of Submer’s systems.
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for hardware, plumbing, and mechanical/electrical systems.
- Interface directly with customers, contractors, and project teams to ensure smooth deployments and service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and local site protocols.
- Document all site activities including installations, interventions, and system updates.
- Provide remote support or on-site escalation when required.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to report issues and suggest design improvements.
- Maintain tools, spare parts, and test equipment in good working order.
- Assist in training clients or partners on proper operation and maintenance procedures.
- Support product engineering, assembly, and testing lab activities when onsite in the Houston office.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in field services, datacenter operations, or industrial system installation.
- Technical training in electromechanical engineering, HVAC, electrical systems, or related field preferred.
- Experience working in mission-critical environments is a strong plus.
- Solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
- Solid understanding of PLC coding principles and capable of making basic edits or adjustments.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Comfortable reading technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Clear, confident communication skills with a customer-first attitude.
- Ability to work independently in remote, high-pressure environments.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% across the U.S., sometimes internationally.
- US Secret or Top Secret Clearance is preferred.
