Overview
At IPG, a global leader in packaging and protective solutions, the Mechanical Assembler plays a critical role in the successful delivery of projects, requiring experience in assembling, fabricating, and troubleshooting automated equipment.
Responsibilities
- Build complex automated standalone machines and large automated systems.
- Assemble components according to assembly drawings, manuals, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Test, troubleshoot, and debug machines, collaborating with engineers for correct operation.
- Consult with engineering for necessary changes and follow proper processes.
- Redline and record changes to detail and assembly drawings.
- Layout hole locations and drill and tap holes on parts for assembly.
- Align mechanical components for manual assembly with or without a hoist.
- Operate machines to verify functionality and conformance to specifications.
- Perform modifications to parts using hand tools and fabrication equipment.
- Provide feedback to engineering regarding changes during the assembly process.
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Utilize drawings to plan assembly and build sequences.
- Support the machine assembly team.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, complying with all regulations.
- Rework critical machine components as required.
- Use measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
- Set up machines and determine if parts match specifications.
- Recognize proper alignment and tolerance of all parts.
- Use knowledge of pneumatic functions to achieve desired results.
- Record changes to machine parts and assemblies on engineering drawings.
- Provide information for machine technical documentation.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites up to 30%.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
