Overview

The Mechanic A position involves performing all phases of repair and maintenance while demonstrating knowledge of safe equipment use and the ability to read blueprints and schematics. The role requires responding to emergencies and working overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical circuits and fixtures.
  • Install, repair, and replace plumbing fixtures and domestic water piping.
  • Maintain and repair interior doors and related hardware.
  • Repair and replace cabinets, furniture, and wooden structures.
  • Patch, plaster, tape, and paint walls.
  • Flash and repair sidewalks to ensure safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily assignments and compliance with codes.
  • Assist in evaluating new equipment for purchase.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Three years of experience in trades or completion of a Mechanic Training Program.
  • Must possess all applicable licenses and permits.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and technical instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work with moving mechanical parts.

  • Regular work schedule is Monday to Friday from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM.
  • Employees hired after March 26, 1999, will be subject to a four-year wage progression.
