Overview
WSP is seeking an Experienced Fare Collection Technician/Mechanic to support the OMNY program, focusing on the deployment of modern fare payment systems in NYC Transit subway stations. This role requires hands-on experience with fare gates and ticket vending machines, contributing to the transition from legacy systems.
Responsibilities
- Oversee, monitor and report on the installation and commissioning of OMNY contactless fare payment devices.
- Assist in ensuring reliable performance testing of contactless and open-payment systems.
- Work on-site within active subway station environments.
- Coordinate with NYCT personnel to maintain service continuity and minimize customer disruption.
- Maintain installation logs, test reports, and field observation records.
- Follow all MTA NYCT safety, operational, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in inspections, audits, and performance tracking.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum 7+ years proven experience working in MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) stations.
- Hands-on experience with fare gates and turnstiles.
- Experience with ticket vending machines (TVMs).
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Must be local to the New York metropolitan area.
