Job Description

Overview

WSP is seeking an Experienced Fare Collection Technician/Mechanic to support the OMNY program, focusing on the deployment of modern fare payment systems in NYC Transit subway stations. This role requires hands-on experience with fare gates and ticket vending machines, contributing to the transition from legacy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, monitor and report on the installation and commissioning of OMNY contactless fare payment devices.
  • Assist in ensuring reliable performance testing of contactless and open-payment systems.
  • Work on-site within active subway station environments.
  • Coordinate with NYCT personnel to maintain service continuity and minimize customer disruption.
  • Maintain installation logs, test reports, and field observation records.
  • Follow all MTA NYCT safety, operational, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in inspections, audits, and performance tracking.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7+ years proven experience working in MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) stations.
  • Hands-on experience with fare gates and turnstiles.
  • Experience with ticket vending machines (TVMs).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Must be local to the New York metropolitan area.
