Overview
WSP is a global leader in engineering and professional services, currently building a talent pipeline for the OMNY program, which supports the transition from legacy MetroCard systems to a contactless fare payment system across MTA New York City Transit. They are seeking an Experienced Fare Collection Technician/Mechanic to work on-site in NYC Transit subway stations, focusing on OMNY technology deployment and legacy fare system support.
Responsibilities
- Oversee, monitor and report on the installation and commissioning of OMNY contactless fare payment devices, fare gates, and ticket vending machines.
- Assist in ensuring reliable performance testing of contactless and open-payment systems.
- Work on-site within active subway station environments.
- Coordinate with NYCT personnel to maintain service continuity and minimize customer disruption.
- Assist in granting access to the NYCT station infrastructure.
- Maintain installation logs, test reports, and field observation records.
- Follow all MTA NYCT safety, operational, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in inspections, audits, and performance tracking.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum 7+ years proven experience working in MTA New York City Transit stations.
- Hands-on experience with fare gates, turnstiles, and ticket vending machines.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Must be local to the New York metropolitan area.
