Overview
The Fireman Mechanic maintains, operates, and repairs all Boiler Room equipment at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. This full-time position involves rotating shifts and requires specific certifications and experience in high-pressure Boiler Room operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, operate, and repair all Boiler Room equipment.
- Repair boilers, pumps, compressors, fans, heaters, turbines, and other related equipment.
- Operate Boiler Room equipment in a safe manner.
- Perform preventive maintenance and keep logs on all Boiler Room equipment.
- Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition.
- Electronically input data into handheld devices as required.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Supervision of Fuel Oil Transfers in building P-98 within the probation period.
- New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness to Operate and Maintain Air Compressors A-35.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in high pressure Boiler Room operation or equivalent education consisting of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Additional Information
- Full-time rotating shifts position, Tuesday - Thursday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday 4:00 pm to 12:00 am.
- All roles require on-site presence.
- Employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
- NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.
