Overview

The Line Mechanic Apprentice position at NY State Electric & Gas Corp involves safely performing work related to the operation, maintenance, and construction of overhead and underground electric systems. Candidates must have relevant experience or training and be prepared to respond to emergencies at any time.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and effectively perform work associated with the operation, maintenance, and construction of the overhead electric system.
  • Understand and diagnose problems related to the overhead electric system and perform corrective work.
  • Safely and effectively perform operation maintenance and construction of the underground system.

Requirements

  • Must have at least three years of experience in overhead electric construction and maintenance or completed a formal training program.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a CDL or other required certifications.
  • Have a satisfactory work record and execute the physical requirements of the job.
  • Pass job tests and possess applicable computer skills.
  • Follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Respond to emergency calls outside of regular hours in all types of weather.
