Overview
Boart Longyear has been providing safe and stable careers for over 135 years. The Sonic Mechanic position involves working mainly in the workshop on Sonic Drill heads, with opportunities for fieldwork to troubleshoot and exchange drill heads.
Responsibilities
- Service, repair, and maintain Boart Longyear’s Fleet of Sonic Drill Heads and support equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical problems in equipment and perform quick turnaround for repairs.
- Remain in a standing position for extended periods and lift arms above shoulder level.
- Use hand and power tools in areas of limited space.
- Perform routine maintenance of equipment.
- Work in adverse weather conditions.
- Travel to job sites as needed.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, drillers, and safety personnel.
- Follow instructions with attention to detail.
- Work with little or no supervision.
Requirements
- Hydraulic systems experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of small engine repairs is preferred.
- Knowledge of duplex and triplex mud pumps is preferred.
- Knowledge of failure analysis and root cause is preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently.
- Pass a drug screen.
- Pass a background check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to be MSHA/OSHA certified.
