Overview
The Technician role involves completing maintenance and repair tasks for Baggage Handling Systems and Passenger Boarding Bridges, while also mentoring and training other personnel. The position requires a strong mechanical and electrical background, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a dynamic airport environment.
Responsibilities
- Complete scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair of Baggage Handling Systems and Passenger Boarding Bridges.
- Mentor, train, and assign tasks to other personnel in the absence of Senior Technicians and Supervisors.
- Perform preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance, including clearing system jams and conducting shift inspections.
- Diagnose equipment failures under the guidance of senior personnel.
- Read and interpret repair manuals, basic schematics, and supervisor instructions.
- Work in tight and high spaces using appropriate PPE and fall protection equipment.
- Complete forms connected with work assignments according to established procedures.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks such as sweeping, cleaning, and greasing.
- Perform additional duties as required by management.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- Minimum 2 years of previous mechanical or electrical experience.
- Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Previous work experience in an Airport environment (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings (preferred).
- Basic knowledge of industrial concepts, practices, and procedures (preferred).
- HVAC, welding/brazing, and plumbing knowledge and skills (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of previous basic electrical and/or electronic systems work experience (preferred).
- 3+ years industrial mechanical and/or electrical background (preferred).
- Minimum 1 year experience with PLC logic and/or Industrial HVAC certification (preferred).
- Advanced computer skills.
Additional Information
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport Security badge.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Company’s insurance policy.
