Overview
The A/C Mechanic for Facilities is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment, working under limited supervision. This role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience, with a focus on maintaining various mechanical systems and responding to work orders.
Responsibilities
- Performs installation, operational maintenance, and major repairs on commercial air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment.
- Receives and completes work orders concerning adjustments and repairs of equipment.
- Completes preventive maintenance inspections and minor adjustments to ensure equipment is in good operating condition.
- Maintains and repairs various electrical machinery, pumps, and electronic/automated controls.
- Maintains and repairs low and high-pressure boilers and steam and hot water systems.
- Procures materials, supplies, and bids for service.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program.
- One year of work-related experience or a combination of experience and formal training.
- Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License and good driving record.
- Must pass a security clearance check.
- Ability to work on a rotating on-call schedule and may require working after normal hours.
Additional Information
- Position requires working with juveniles who may have committed dangerous/aggressive acts.
- Must maintain a good driving record and comply with local regulations.
- Mandatory overtime may be required.
- Requires ability to climb ladders and lift weights in excess of 50 lbs.
